We are a community organization dedicated to empowering and creating space for all people to celebrate and honor Black culture, support Black businesses and uplift the community through our many events, workshops, partnerships and networking functions.

Why We Exist
We organize and promote Black owned businesses and culturally responsive events in Champaign County to help create an inclusive business community that welcomes and reflects Champaign County’s diverse population. Our vision is to foster a society where every individual has access to the same opportunities.
How We Accomplish Our Mission:
Black-Owned Business Directory
We organize and promote a comprehensive Black-owned business directory filled with over 150 Black owned businesses.
SOCIALS, EVENTS AND FESTIVALS
We host culturally inclusive events. (Member socials, the Urban Market Pop-up Shop, 217 Black Restaurant Weekend, Business of the Year Awards and Photos with Black Santa.)
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
We host monthly workshops, offer one-on-one consulting services and business bootcamps to help refine and develop entrepreneurial skills for long-term success.
Blog and Print Magazine
Our quarterly digital and print magazine, Luminous Magazine, features member stories and spotlight the latest happenings. Uplighting the community through positive representation of the Black community.
ONLINE SHOP & VENDOR BOOTH
We feature items from local Black-owned businesses throughout Central Illinois and online. Ask about our quarterly subscription box entitled “Black Box."
ADVOCATE AND POLICY
We collaborate with community organizations to address issues and policies that create barriers to entry and growth.
BLACK OWNED BUSINESS FUND
We assess funding needs to allocate towards Black-owned businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and systemic racism.
