It’s back to school season and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to find the resources you need to succeed! There are businesses around town that are looking to help out with free school supplies and donations to help your student’s return to school.
Where to look for supplies:
Austin Cleaning Industry – Back to School Raffle
When: 07/31/2021, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Where: West Side Park, 400 W. University, Champaign
There will be free school supplies, book bags, food (while supplies last) along with a bounce house!
Anita Purves Nature Center – Back-to-School Resource Fair for the Immigrant and Refugee Community in Champaign-Urbana
When: 07/31/2021, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Where: Anita Purves Nature Center, 1505 N. Broadway, Urbana
There will be free school supplies and food distributed for the immigrant and refugee community, along with a number of other resource connections in the C-U community:
- Walk-in vaccination clinic in partnership with the C-U Public Health District for ages 12 and up
- Community organizations to provide information and resources to families on-site, including Champaign Unit 4 School District, Parkland College and Carle Hospital
- Free food from Kona Ice and Maize Mexican Grill for the first 300 people
- Free school supplies for the first 300 people
Family Blossoms Doula Care LLC – Resource Expo
When: 07/31/2021, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where: Brookens Gym, 1776 E Washington, Urbana
The first annual C-U Family resource expo. If you would like to register for supplies, apply here. Children must be present to receive supplies.
Blind Pig Brewery – #Kulture4DaKids2021, Backpack and School Supply Distribution
When: 08/09/2021, All Day
Where: Blind Pig Brewery, 120 N. Neil St., Champaign
Details: Anyone in need can stop in to Blind Pig Brewery at 120 N. Neil St. to grab a backpack and/or school supplies (while supplies last).
Champaign-Urbana Community Sponsors Presents – Drive-through distribution
When: 08/15/2021, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Where: Napleton’s Auto Park, 1111 Napleton Way, Urbana
They ask that you remain in your vehicles as you proceed through our drive-thru process. The students will be provided with school supplies, goal setting outlines, & community resources to support the families.
The Conscious Community Connection Annual School Supply Giveaway
When: 08/21/2021, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Where: Urbana/Champaign Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway, Urbana
There will be music and refreshments. Supplies are limited, so first come, first serve. Please remember your masks!
Where to go for a haircut:
Salon 105 – Back to school cuts
When: 08/15/2021, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Where: Salon 105, 105 S Lincoln, Mahomet
They are taking walk-ins only for free cuts, come washed and style is not included.
Where to donate:
Studio VIP Beauty Spa – Back to school drive
When: 08/07/2021, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Where: 313 N. Mattis, Suite 201, Champaign
They are looking for: backpacks, pens and pencils, notebooks, glue, markers, paint and scissors.
